Iowa City Construction Safety Announcement
This is to announce that effective November 1st, 2008 the Iowa City Construction Organization has achieved:
- 28 years without a Lost Time Injury
- 3.7 MM Safe Effort Hours
- 1 year without a Recordable Injury
- NMAPC Safety Award (7 consecutive years)
- First runner up for National CURT Safety award
What does this mean for us?
- Compared to Industry we sent 57 additional people home injury free that would otherwise not have been able to return to work the following day at an "average" construction work site due to injury over the last 28 years (25 year industry average LTI of 3.1).
- Compared to our CII (Construction Industry Institute) peer group, we were better than their average of 21 LTI injuries over the same 28 year period (25 year average CII LTI rate of 1.14).
- Given an average cost per LTI injury of $58,500 that equates to roughly $1,228,000 in lost time savings over 28 years based on CII peer group average, or $3,335,000 compaired to Industry.
Iowa City's commitment to the "Zero Incidents" culture is reflected in every aspect of our work. 28 years without a lost time injury and 3.7 MM Safe Hours is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication by all levels of Construction craft and managment at the Iowa City site.
