BIS Frucon

BIS Frucon Industrial Services was commissioned to execute a major project to revamp the existing raw material storage and process areas at Procter & Gamble's Pineville, Louisiana liquid detergent plant. The project required major changes to develop flexibility in the filling, packing and soft handling systems while increasing production capacity at the plant.

Our project management and construction services included installation or modifications to the following systems:

• Complex sanitary piping systems with steam and electric tracing
• Mechanical & electrical process skid modifications
• Re-blend modifications in the tank farm
• Work in the enzyme and perfume storage areas
• Installation and changes to all conveying systems
• Environmental control systems for enzymes
• Rack storage system in-feeds

Challenges in meeting the aggressive marketing dates were achieved or exceeded. Typical methods used to improve schedule and reduce downtime included:

• Modularizing conveyors on site by installing power & control conduit and air lines, then rolling them into place on casters.
• Equipment was modified offline, programmed and verified before being installed.
• Production's planned maintenance windows were used to pre-work mechanical and electrical scope and then scheduled short duration outages were utilized for tie-ins.
• Safety was an integral part of the work process to make sure there were no misses on required signoffs or permits.
• Corresponding crews were used to execute work on each of the production lines which added cost savings to the process by refining the learning curve.
• Startup and Construction teams began working together early to allow seamless turnovers and completely eliminate exceptions.

Safety performance was critical during this period due to the need to interface with multiple departments during a compressed execution schedule. BIS Frucon Industrial Services completed over 70,000 safe effort hours on the project, while achieving all of the client goals.
